The inspiration for this site comes from the Penguin Books publication Shakespeare's Words, published in hardback (UK) and paperback (US) in 2002. A UK paperback edition was published on 23 April 2004. Both editions are available from online stores or from any good bookshop.

Origins Following the publication of Shakespeare's Words, authors David Crystal and Ben Crystal decided to exploit the entire database they had created, which contained over 50,000 quotations. They have linked the database to the plays and poems, added several dynamic special features, and made everything searchable. This site is the result.
